Rural H(S4X-RHWI) is to enhance economic, sustainable training & Job opportunities for rural communities by developing a locally trained hospitality workforce tailored to the unique challenges of remote and areas.

Vision

To create a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable rural hospitality hub that empowers individuals through accredited training, fosters community connection, and revitalizes the local economy. A stepping stone to be in a position Offer New upcoming Venues when Operational qualified & experienced staff creating permanent Jobs and career paths in hospitality and Event staff.

Mission

RHWI aims to provide high-quality, accredited hospitality training in a real-world setting while offering the public a welcoming venue for meals, drinks, and community events. The initiative supports workforce development, social inclusion, and rural regeneration.

Core Components

 

1. Hospitality Training Academy

Accredited Courses:

Food hygiene and catering

Bar and beverage service

Front-of-house and customer service

Door supervision and event security + More

 

2. Community Hospitality Hub

Open to the Public:

Café,

serving Traditional home cooking just like granny's,

Locally sourced food and drink

Staffed by trainees gaining real-world experience

Work Experience:

Trainees rotate through kitchen, bar, and service roles

Supervised by experienced professionals

 

3. Community Events & Themed Nights

Regular Programming:

Cultural cuisine nights (e.g., Italian, Scottish, Caribbean)

Open mic and music, story & folklore nights

Family-friendly events, local Charity Fundraisers and seasonal celebrations

Venue Hire & Services:

Available for private functions, catering, workshops, and local group meetings

Social Impact Goals

Train and certify 150+ individuals annually

Provide affordable nutritional meals and social space for the community & Visitors

Reduce rural unemployment and skills gaps

Strengthen community ties through inclusive events

My name is Sharlene (Charlie), and I’m reaching out on behalf of the S4X-RHWI Rural Hospitality WorkForce Initiative, a new pilot program designed to enhance community health, safety & wellbeing, support & create local employment, businesses, and protect rural assets across Scotland’s remote regions.

We are excited to announce that  Hawick  is an obvious area for this initiative. We are based in Hawick, Our goal is to work closely with local businesses, accommodation providers, community organisations and residents to:

  • Improve health infrastructure for farms, tourism sites, and rural construction projects
  • Develop a locally trained workforce for patrols, monitoring, emergency support & events & hospitality
  • Support wildlife and heritage protection through community-led efforts
  • Enhance visitor and resident safety and experience during peak and off-peak seasons
  • Identify new community projects and gaps to create other opportunities
